Mandriva, originally known as Mandrakesoft, is the result of the merger of several open source pioneers such as Mandrakesoft in France, Conectiva in Brazil, Edge IT in France and Lycoris in the US. |
The company offers its enterprise, government organizations, educational institutions and individual users, Linux and Open-Source product, technology and services.
Mandriva's key product is the Mandriva Linux distribution. It is available in individual user versions: Discovery/Lx, PowerPack, PowerPack+, Move and Globetrotter, and in enterprise versions: Corporate Desktop and Server, Dedicated Server, MNF2 and Clustering.
The company also provides and maintains a completely free version, Free Mandriva, as part of its commitment to the open source principles.
Mandriva provides on line services such as the Mandriva Club, the Mandriva Corporate Club and on line training, as well as more traditional services such as consulting, support and training.
The company has about 130 employees, 80 of them engineers and has offices in France, Brazil and the US. It sells its products in more than 140 countries and estimates the number of Mandriva Linux users to be in the 6 to 8 Million range.
